Mallinder to step down as Scottish Rugby performance chief
Scottish Rugby performance director Jim Mallinder has decided to leave his post at the end of the season, it was announced Tuesday.
Former Northampton rugby director Mallinder, 57, was appointed in 2019 after joining from England's Rugby Football Union, where he was the player pathway coach.
"I have pretty much gone back-to-back in jobs from Premiership director of rugby to the RFU to Scottish Rugby, and so I have decided to stop, take a pause, before looking for something new," Mallinder, who will step down in June, said in a statement.
"As anyone working in elite sport will tell you, there are a lot of time and travel commitments, so I would like to spend some time at home once this role ends."
Scottish Rugby chief executive Mark Dodson added: "Jim has given a lot to this role, and so I respect that he now wants to take time out and reflect before deciding what the next step is he wants to take in his career."
Scotland finished third in last season's Six Nations but failed to get out of a tough pool, also featuring Ireland and eventual champions South Africa, at this year's World Cup in France.
The Scots begin their 2024 Six Nations campaign away to Wales on February 3.
